Neiman Marcus announced last Tuesday (February 7, 2024) that Simon Porte Jacquemus, the founder and creative director of Jacquemus, has been awarded the Neiman Marcus Award to honor the brand’s new initiatives in the fashion industry in 2024.
Establishing his eponymous label in 2009, the French designer is renowned for his creative designs and viral marketing activities. From cars shaped like handbags on the streets of Paris last spring to a Fall 2023 show set against the grandeur of the Palace of Versailles and the ‘Jacquemus 24/24’ automated vending pop-up store, his brand has dominated social media.
Earlier this month, his ‘Les Sculptures’ fashion show successfully garnered attention from celebrities and major retailers worldwide. In a press release, the luxury retailer described the French designer as someone who “employs distinct presentation, marketing, and sales strategies to create a new rhythm for the future of fashion.”
Geoffroy van Raemdonck, CEO of Neiman Marcus, stated, “Simon is a leading innovator of his generation whose vision, design skills, and business acumen have created one of the most imaginative and quickly resonating fashion brands with our customers.” “Neiman Marcus shares a pioneering strategy, based on our experience with exceptional moments like Fantasy Gifts and ‘Retailtainment’ activations, to create magic for our customers.”
Neiman Marcus began carrying the French designer’s handbags in spring 2022. The luxury retailer plans to expand the brand’s distribution points in the next two years, including the introduction of ready-to-wear menswear this summer. Neiman Marcus is currently the largest distributor of Jacquemus in the United States.
Jacquemus said, “I am truly delighted to receive the Neiman Marcus Award, which is a recognition of my brand and my team.” “As an independent designer, I always strive to innovate and create when designing collections. It’s like communicating and creating experiences with our community in a unique way. In particular, Jacquemus has always been supported by the US market and even Neiman Marcus for many years. I sincerely thank the Neiman Marcus team for their wonderful support and this award.”
Alongside Jacquemus being one of the honorees of 2024, Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of Dior’s luxury women’s collections, ready-to-wear, and accessories, received the Outstanding Contribution Award. Daniel Roseberry, creative director of Schiaparelli, was awarded the Creative Influence Award.
