The ACC’s statement, issued after a thorough game review, characterized Horne’s gesture as “unsportsmanlike and inappropriate.”

In the closing moments of the game, Horne successfully made both foul shots with 2.2 seconds left, securing the Wolfpack’s 83-76 triumph over the Demon Deacons. Subsequently, Horne acknowledged that his coaches addressed the gesture, and he took to social media to apologize.

“I got caught up in the heat of the moment and made a disrespectful gesture that I should have never done. That’s not who I am!” Horne conveyed on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Horne, a 6-foot-2 graduate student in his first season with the Wolfpack after transferring from Arizona State, currently leads North Carolina State in scoring with an average of 15.1 points per game, along with contributing significantly in steals.
