Sandra Oh Set to Shine in Off-Broadway Debut 'The Welkin'

Sandra Oh is poised to grace the Off-Broadway stage in the premiere of Lucy Kirkwood’s ‘The Welkin’ at the Atlantic Theater Company this spring.

Known for her remarkable performances in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Killing Eve,’ among others, Oh has previously showcased her talent on the New York stage in Off-Broadway productions such as ‘Satellites,’ ‘Stop Kiss,’ and ‘Wild Goose Dreams.’ Additionally, audiences can anticipate seeing her in HBO/A24’s forthcoming limited series adaptation of ‘The Sympathizer,’ scheduled to air in April.

Joining Oh is an ensemble cast featuring Dale Soules (‘Orange Is The New Black’), Danny Wolohan (‘To Kill a Mockingbird’), b (‘American (Tele)visions’), Tilly Botsford (making her Off-Broadway debut), Paige Gilbert (‘Skin of Our Teeth’), Ann Harada (‘Avenue Q’), Jenn Kidwell (‘Underground Railroad Game’), Mary McCann (‘Harper Regan’), Emily Cass McDonnell (‘I’m Revolting’), MacKenzie Mercer (from the ‘Frozen’ national tour), and Haley Wong (‘Mary Gets Hers at MCC’).

The limited engagement will run through June 30.

Set in rural England in 1759, ‘The Welkin’ unfolds as a young woman escapes her impending death sentence by asserting that she is pregnant. Subsequently, twelve women convene to determine the veracity of her claim, in what promises to be “a dark, fierce, funny play about democracy and housework.”

Featuring sets by dots, costumes by Kaye Voyce, lights by Stacey Derosier, sound by Palmer Hefferan, special effects by Jeremy Chernick, hair and wigs by Cookie Jordan, makeup by Gabrielle Vincent, movement by David Neumann, and intimacy direction by Crista Marie Jackson.
