During a cozy performance at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Thursday night, Miley Cyrus, 31, surprised fans with a country rendition of Talking Heads’ iconic 1977 hit “Psycho Killer.”
Captured by enthusiastic audience members, footage shows Cyrus clad in a simple tank top and leather pants, putting her own spin on the song’s lyrics with her distinctive vocal style.
Addressing the crowd, Cyrus remarked, “If you know this song, this is the regular part,” before launching into the familiar chorus of the original track.
This performance comes on the heels of the announcement that Cyrus will be featured on A24’s tribute album to Talking Heads’ seminal 1984 live record, “Stop Making Sense.” Titled “Everyone’s Getting Involved,” the album will also showcase talents like Lorde, Paramore, Girl in Red, The National, Teezo Touchdown, Kevin Abstract, and more.
Notably, Cyrus and David Byrne previously shared the stage during her New Year’s Eve special in 2023, where they performed David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” and Byrne’s “Everybody’s Coming to My House.”
In addition to her recent tribute endeavors, Cyrus has also been busy releasing new music, including her latest single “Doctor (Work It Out)” with Pharrell Williams. The accompanying music video showcases Cyrus against a minimalist backdrop, allowing her lyrics, dance moves, wardrobe, and signature big hair to take center stage.
Teasing the song’s release on Instagram, Cyrus shared snippets of the track and glimpses from the music video, generating excitement among her fans leading up to its official debut.
