The highly anticipated “Bombshell: The Raquel Welch Collection” is gearing up to showcase some of the actress’s most cherished items, including her iconic 2018 Mercedes-Benz SL 550 convertible and the legendary ‘One Million Years B.C.’ style bikini.
Scheduled for April 12 in Los Angeles, Julien’s Auction will unveil this exclusive assortment, presenting fans with a rare opportunity to own a piece of Hollywood history.
Welch, who rose to global fame in the 1960s with unforgettable roles in films like One Million Years B.C., Fantastic Voyage, and Bedazzled, passed away last February at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy of timeless beauty and unparalleled talent.
“Raquel Welch was that singular rarefied Hollywood star who had it all — grace, glamour, and grit in a goddess’ body, whose star-making appearance in One Million Years B.C. became one of history’s most cinematic images and one of the best-selling pinup posters of all time,” remarked Darren Julien, executive director/co-founder of Julien’s Auctions. “She was worshipped not only for her stunning beauty but for her legacy of groundbreaking portrayals of strong female warriors who possessed the same ferocity and fierceness Ms. Welch blazed throughout her extraordinary life and career.”
The auction will feature over 500 items from Welch’s illustrious career, including her 1974 Golden Globe Award, her Hollywood Walk of Fame plaque, and her prized Mercedes-Benz SL 550 convertible, valued between $70,000 to $100,000.
Among the highlights are iconic costumes from her films, such as the suede and faux fur bikini from One Million Years B.C., a flapper-style dress from The Wild Party, and various swimsuits from her notable roles.
Additionally, the auction will offer custom-made ensembles by renowned designers like Bob Mackie, Norma Kamali, and Givenchy, worn by Welch at prestigious Hollywood events.
Jewelry aficionados will also have the chance to bid on pieces like Welch’s diamond and 14k gold wedding ring and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust stainless steel and gold wristwatch.
The auction will be accessible online through Julien’s Auctions, with select items displayed at an exclusive European public exhibition at The Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge, Ireland, starting February 23.
