For fashion enthusiasts, the Lady Dior handbag has become a familiar design due to its high versatility and suitability for various styles. With its refined Cannage pattern, Lady Dior has become an iconic design of the French fashion house, epitomizing Dior’s sophisticated and unique style. Throughout time, the timeless elegance embodied in Lady Dior has inspired numerous contemporary artists worldwide through two art projects: Lady Dior As Seen By and Dior Lady Art.

A public art project since 2016, Dior Lady Art has explored the Lady Dior handbag design with artists worldwide, transforming the iconic design into art pieces. Lady Dior As Seen By, an art exhibition initiated in 2011, has traveled to various locations globally, including Shanghai, Düsseldorf, Milan, Tokyo, and Berlin. At these exhibitions, both emerging talents and established artists showcased their creativity by collaborating with the iconic Lady Dior design. Beyond imagination and crossing boundaries from photography to sculpture, Lady Dior As Seen By is a declaration of profound love for art, paying tribute to Christian Dior, who began his career managing art galleries and was an art collector before venturing into fashion.

As the first destination of this year’s exhibition season, Lady Dior House showcases and honors the iconic designs of Dior in collaboration with contemporary artists worldwide through the two art projects Lady Dior As Seen By and Dior Lady Art. Since its opening on March 15 at An Gallery, adjacent to the Dior store at Union Square, Lady Dior House has surprised art enthusiasts by introducing two entirely new artworks from two Vietnamese artists, Tia – Thuy Nguyen and Bui Cong Khanh.

Lady Cloud by Tia – Thuy Nguyen At the Lady Dior As Seen By exhibition, art enthusiasts will encounter the iconic handbag in a quartz version through the creative lens of Tia – Thuy Nguyen. Explaining the choice of quartz as the primary material for this artwork, the artist mentioned that according to feng shui, quartz is a balancing stone that soothes the mind and crystallizes one’s thoughts, dissipating negative emotions.

From an aesthetic perspective, quartz resembles clouds, allowing light to pass through, bending its direction to reflect the surrounding environment. The contrast between the solidity of quartz and the openness of clouds challenges viewers’ imaginations, leading to a limited open-ended personal experience.

Bui Cong Khanh and The Wandering Clouds As an artist deeply passionate about the social assumptions of cultural heritage, encountering Bui Cong Khanh’s Lady Dior design, art enthusiasts will easily recognize the rich Vietnamese culture conveyed through ceramic fragments inspired by the pottery pieces on the gates of temples and shrines in Hoi An.

A dreamlike adventure is enriched by the special creativity of Lady Dior As Seen By, reenacting the dialogue between the fashion house and promising talents and most influential figures in the contemporary context. Vietnamese artists Tia – Thuy Nguyen and Bui Cong Khanh have also contributed two artworks displayed here.

An exclusive rendezvous honoring diverse cultures and exquisite craftsmanship, Lady Dior House will be open from March 15 to April 14, 2024. Register here for attendance.
