Returning to the Milan Fashion Week runway on February 22nd (local time), the “perfect match” of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons presented fashion enthusiasts with the Fall Winter 2024 collection crafted from fragments – concepts of beauty from the past aiming towards the future. From there, they recreated and infused a new sense of elegance into modern wardrobes.
As a way to help fashion enthusiasts better understand their Fall Winter 2024 collection, the Italian fashion house shared before the show, “This is a collection made by history, not because we nostalgically remember the past, but because it’s something we must always remember.” Indeed, throughout their collection, ribbon bows, aprons from the 80s worn by mothers and grandmothers, loafers, and silk hats constantly graced the runway, evoking memories of peaceful days gone by.
Under the magical hands and creative minds of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, bringing back items labeled with nostalgia is simple. But how to “modernize” and make them trendy anew is the factor that critics, fashion enthusiasts, and Prada are concerned about. That’s why, instead of a large silk bow, Prada Fall Winter 2024 presents a dress designed with a module covered in bows, a woolen apron, simple A-line dresses accented with bows or attached flowers. The familiar formula of oversized coats with long pencil skirts stands out on the bold color palette such as bright red, olive green, and pink, applied thoroughly by the Italian fashion house this autumn-winter season.
It’s not hard to notice that the beautiful bows have successfully fastened and captured the creative heart of Prada in this season. Everywhere you look, bows are the IT-items in the Prada Fall Winter 2024 collection, which also makes fashion enthusiasts believe that bows and the coquette trend will become one of the trends shaking the fashion race in 2024. Alongside familiar items like bows, aprons of grandmothers and mothers, the classic varsity jacket from the 60s is also included in this collection. Midi skirts with striped patterns and vintage high-waisted trousers with cuts, decorative stitching, also bring back the nostalgic feeling of old wardrobes. “For me, everything starts from history, history teaches us everything, from politics to art, and finally fashion. Because the past is what determines where we are in the present and future,” Prada said.
