Gareth Bale, a five-time Champions League winner and revered Welsh footballer, announced his retirement on Monday at the age of 33. In a post on social media, he expressed his gratitude to the game that gave him “some of the best moments of my life”. The former Tottenham and Real Madrid forward revealed his immediate departure from club and international football. During his career, he initially made his mark at Southampton before transferring to Spurs. In 2013, Bale was signed by Real Madrid in an unprecedented transfer fee and went on to win three La Liga awards in addition to five Champions League titles, forming a formidable attacking trio alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
Gareth Bale, who had a brief reunion with Tottenham, joined Los Angeles FC in 2022. His tenure with Wales saw him become their most capped player with 111 appearances, and after he left, he steered the country to their first World Cup in 64 years in Qatar 2022.
